Sierra Valley – the Lost Sierra
The “Lost Sierra”, commonly referred to as the Sierra Valley, is a name often used to describe the newly re-discovered gorgeous mountains, forests, rivers, streams, lakes and valleys of Sierra, Plumas and Lassen Counties. This northern California area of exceptional beauty was “lost” when abandoned years ago by the gold-seekers of days gone by. In their wake they left flakes of gold and pockets of civilization surrounded by striking natural beauty both monumental and sublime. Interspersed between the quaint established towns of Quincey, Portola, Sierraville and Graeagle are blossoming new planned communities and subdivisions like Nakoma and Grizzly Ranch.
Located about an hour north of Truckee, Sierraville is the start point for exploring this charming area… and well worth spending the day, a long weekend or even a whole vacation uncovering the secret delights of the Lost Sierra.
